August 2016

We would like to THANK all of the people who: worked at our Fish Fry’s and donated desserts, the people who donated Bake Goods & worked at the sale, Betty Gniech and her helpers on the last Casino Trip, the people who donated items for our Silent Auction at the Lake George Expo & worked at our table, and all of those who donated to our Yard Sale.  Thanks Mike & Sue Green and Gary & Carol Maas for all of their work on the Yard Sale. We had a very successful sale. Without the members who donate and help at our events we could not sponsor these events.  Thank you to Mike Vanderperre for donating playing cards and coffee.  Donations are always appreciated.

From the president….

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the people who have helped out at our breakfasts and dinners this year.  Without you we could not have successful events. Lots of times it’s the same volunteers, and I know they get burned out sometimes, so If you would like to help out at an upcoming breakfast or dinner, all you have to do is get your name and phone number to any member of the board and they will make sure you get a call!  WE ALWAYS NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Our summer trap has been going well.  A special THANK YOU to Mike Green who worked hard at getting the trap walk ways cleaned up!

Don’t miss our Member Party, Friday Aug. 19th.  This is a date change. There will be door prizes and a 50/50.  Good food and good company!!  The Club provides meat and adult beverages. You just need to bring your favorite thing to make as a dish to pass.  Cards and Games after we eat!  Should be a fun time!! Starts with cocktails at 5 p.m. Hope to see you there!!   Carol

Our Golf Outing will be Fri., Sept 9, 2016 with a 9am shotgun start.  It will be at Firefly this year.  Call Gail White 989-588-6257 or Ken Waryas 989-588-0441 for additional information or for a registration form.

On a sad note, Evelyn Rickard passed away in June.  She was a long time member and really enjoyed playing euchre.  Our condolences go out to her family.

We are continuing with our Summer Euchre on Tuesday’s at 7pm.  We have a potluck the last Tues. of each month at 6pm.  Euchre is open to the public, so bring your friends and neighbors and come on out to the club and play euchre.  We have Trap Shooting every Thurs. night at 5pm through Sept.29th.  On Sat., July 16 we are having a Roast Pork Dinner at 4pm.  Take out is available. The Annual Chicken BBQ will be Sun., Sept. 4 at 4pm.  Again take out is available. Please check the calendar at the end of this newsletter for other events.  Please come out and support your club.

We will have one opening on our board. One person has volunteered and we are accepting nominations from now until the Sept. 10 board meeting.  If you would like to be on the board let a board member know about it.

The Howard Family of Lake George would like to invite our members and the community to a Lake George History Program.  It will be Wed., July 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm.  The meeting is being held at the Boosters Club with Wendell Hoover as the guest speaker.  He grew up in Lake George and was a park naturalist for 29 years at the Hartwick Pines State Park. They would like a call to let them know you will be attending.  They can be reached at: Lowell 517-881-7294 or Terry Howard 810-724-8615.  The web site is:

We will be collecting donations of money or canned goods for our Thanksgiving Baskets. The deadline for the donations is November 1st.  You may mail checks to the Boosters Club address at the top of this newsletter or drop off money or canned goods at Fairchild & Green Realty Office before November 1.  Thank you in advance for your help with this project. We get our names of needy families from The United Way of Clare County.

A big Thank You to Ron and Ruth Rhoades who mowed our lawn before the July Breakfast and Yard Sale.  It was kind of on short notice and they really helped us at a time of need.  Thanks to the Green’s for the pop donation and the Maas for their pop and water donations.  It is always nice to have extra help with donations and jobs done.
